At The Village Theatre, we strive to be a welcoming, supportive, and inspiring place to make theatre, learn, and gather as a community. We believe the arts have the power to connect people, foster empathy, and reflect the many stories that make up the world around us.
We stand up for equity, diversity, and inclusion across our organization and community. As a community-based performing arts and education organization, we recognize that building an equitable, diverse, and inclusive environment is central to our mission, our sustainability, and the impact we seek to have on the communities we serve.
EQUITY
means recognizing that not everyone begins with the same access or opportunities. It requires us to actively address barriers, challenge inequities, and create conditions that allow for full and fair participation for all.
DIVERSITY
means acknowledging, respecting, and celebrating the wide range of human experiences and identities that exist within our community. These include, but are not limited to: race, ethnicity, color, nationality, culture, language, sex, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, family structure, age, religion, beliefs, socioeconomic background, experiences, and ability differences.
INCLUSION
means intentionally creating spaces where every individual feels welcomed, valued, and respected. It means honoring the perspectives, talents, backgrounds, and lived experiences that each person brings. Our stakeholders include students, families, artists, educators, staff, volunteers, board members, audiences, and community partners.
